Govt determined to resolve problems of SME sector: Minister

FAISALABAD: State Minister for Textile and Commerce, Haji Mohammad Akram Ansari said on Saturday that SME sector was the engine of growth and the government was determined to resolve its problems on top priority basis.

Addressing a meeting at Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries here, he said the government had given refunds of Rs 41 billion to exporters this year and remaining would also be paid during next few months.

He said the government had taken bold steps to overcome multi-faceted challenges. He said, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas was regularly chairing cabinet meetings so as to devise such policies which could provide job opportunities to common persons in addition to encouraging investors.

He said the government had also planned to provide incentives to small traders and small industrialists as SME sector was backbone of the national economy.

He said the government with the help of armed forces had restored peace in the country, by destroying terrorists’ network and now foreign investors were willing to come to Pakistan and invest here.

Earlier, newly elected president of FCST&SI Miaz Zafar Iqbal present a welcome address, whereas Senior Vice President Khursheed Ishtiaq, Vice President Mian Rizwan Siddique, Vice President Mrs. Rahat Riaz, Secretary General Wing Commonder (Retd) Imtiaz Ahmad Faheem, MPA Fatima Fareeha, Chaudhary Mohammad Shafiq and Malik Mohammad Ashraf also spoke on the occasion.
