ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Police in a bid to curb the menace of alm seekers and their handlers
have launched crackdown against them and arrested 2719 beggars so far.
According to police spokesman, special teams have been constituted to ensure the arrests of beggars and their handlers, while legal process was being also adopted to register FIRs against them.
These teams arrested 2719 professional beggars from various areas of the city during current year, he said.
DIG Islamabad Waqar Uddin Syed directed to shift child beggars at Shelters Homes and Child Protection Centers so that the centers after their counseling and make them a responsible citizen.
DIG (Operations) said that strict action would be taken against those beggars found around commercial centers, signals and other business areas.
DIG said this campaign against the professional alm-seekers would be made more effective and strict action to be taken against those who force children and women to adopt the ugly business.
