ISLAMABAD: Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wednesday launched a stunning pictorial publication illustrating the depth and expertise of its work in the Pacific Islands.
According to ADB statement received here, the publication, ‘ADB Operations in the Pacific’, profiles dozens of ADB’s most important and successful projects with developing member countries in the subregion. One of those countries, Fiji, will next week host ADB’s Annual Meeting for the first time.
“This is a beautifully rendered publication that gives a dramatic and vivid visual representation of some of ADB’s most successful work in the Pacific,” ADB Director General for the Pacific Carmela Locsin said.
Copies of the publication would also be available at the Pacific Governors Meeting in Fiji on May 1, which marks the first day of ADB’s 2019 Annual Meeting, the statement said adding the meeting would be opened by ADB President Takehiko Nakao to discuss a range of regional priorities facing countries in the Pacific.
The publication is rich with photographs taken by ADB’s staff photographers and comprises a series of two-page chapters analyzing ADB’s work in such fields as transport, energy, gender, education, climate change and disaster risk management, information and communication technology, and private sector development.
