ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikander Bosan on Monday said, sustainable agricultural productivity could be achieved through use of modern technology including biotechnology.
The minister expressed these view addressing a Workshop on Advances in Agricultural Biotechnology and Regulatory Affairs as Chief Guest at F .C College Lahore said a press release.
“Modern agriculture is based on latest knowledge grounded in research that introduces technologies with acceptability by the farmers.This kind of transformation may be easy to discuss in a class room or a seminar but difficult to translate into action” he added.
While highlighting the establishment of Federal Food Safety Authority, he said, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (NAPHIS) will further facilitate development of all technologies related to food security.
He said that food security could not be achieved without ensuring affordability and accessibility.
The workshop was also attended by Dr. James Tebbe, Rector FC College University, Mina Dowlatchahi, FAO Representative, Malik Zahoor, Senior Advisor MNFSR Mohammad Mahmood, Secretary Agriculture Punjab And Dr. Kauser Abdulla Malik.
