AIOU to hold national moot on promotion of English language

ISLAMABAD: First-ever national conference on contemporary trends in English language and literature will be held here next week.

The event, being organized by Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) carries great significance for the students, teachers and intelligentsia, a press release on Tuesday said. The moot intends to create awareness about the latest trends in language and literature.

It will be a way forward to deal with contemporary patterns and challenges in the field of English language, said Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui while reviewing the conference’s arrangements.

The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform to its graduate students to showcase their research talents and share their work with peers and mentors. The AIOU Alumni are also the part of the two-day grand event.

The event also aims at collaborating with other higher institutions in Pakistan for promotion of the language in accordance with the contemporary trends and needs.

It will also help bringing innovations in traditional teaching style and techniques for achieving excellence in English learning.

Over the years, the AIOU has been engaged in providing academic and infrastructure support to the society for promoting its teaching in its proper perspective.

The conference will help to engage practitioners and researchers in the field of language, literature, and teaching and to encourage inter-regional cooperation in research and the dissemination of knowledge and research findings.

The participants will discuss pedagogical issues relating to English and literature during conference’s working sessions. It may be mentioned here that the approaches to studying and interpreting English language and literature have recently undergone major changes in the wake of contemporary theories and practices in both the disciplines.
