ISLAMABAD: Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi Wednesday passed the directives that members of the Parliament should have an easy access to all ministries without any bureaucratic hitches.
“There should be no closed-door for any parliamentarian in any ministry,” he said while passing the directives on a point of order raised by Sheheryar Khan Afridi of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
The MNA complained that he visited the Foreign Office on Tuesday at 2:30, but he was denied the entry saying that “you cannot go inside without any appointment.”
They deputy speaker sought an assurance from the government that there was no bar on visit of parliamentarians to any ministry.
Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lt Gen Abdul Qadir Baloch said neither there was any restriction on visit of parliamentarians to ministries nor it would be in future.
Afridi said he would bring a privilege motion on the issue against the Foreign Office.
