Braid chopping forces people to secure houses in IOK

ISLAMABAD: Growing incidents of braid chopping have forced people to install iron grills on windows and doors of their houses in north Kashmir, particularly in Baramulla district of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Many others, who cannot afford iron grills, have installed hooks to hold an iron rod on the bedroom doors or windows to secure their houses, reported.

Mohammad Iqbal Najar of Uri, whose wife Hafiza lost her braid on Monday to braid choppers inside their cowshed, said that he had now secured the door with an iron rod.

Naseer Ahmad, another resident of Boniyar, said that they too had installed iron rods on the windows and doors of their single story house.

Sameer Ahmad, a resident of Zandfarn said that women in the village were no longer visiting orchards or kitchen gardens, while even men were keeping away from mosques in the evening times.

Altaf Ahmad, a resident of Pattan said that they had covered the towers of their house with tin sheets and logs.

Moreover, groups of villagers are also keeping vigil during nights.
