ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday formed a larger bench to hear a petition seeking disqualification of Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif.
The petition has been filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Usman Dar, which seeks the foreign minister’s disqualification for concealing his foreign work permit and being involved in money laundering.
The court has approved the petition for hearing while referring it to Chief Justice IHC for constitution of a larger bench.
According to informed sources, the Chief Justice IHC has formed a larger bench to hear the case on September 26.
The five-judge bench comprises Justice Amir Farooq, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani and Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb.
PTI ticket holder Dar asserted that Asif did not disclose his Iqama [work permit] and employment with the foreign company in his nomination papers filed with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Earlier, the foreign minister had claimed to disclose his employment with the international company and salary with ECP and Federal Bureau of Revenues.
