ABU DHABI: Sri Lanka were 61-3 at lunch on the opening day of the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi after winning the toss and electing to bat on Thursday.
Kusal Mendis was dismissed by Yasir Shah for 10 in the last over before the break, becoming the leg-spinner’s second scalp of the session.
Opener Dimuth Karunaratne was unbeaten on 32 at the interval. Kaushal Silva made 12 while Lahiru Thirimanne failed to score.
Pakistan are playing their first Test since the retirement of their record run-scorer Younis Khan, and their most successful captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
The day-night second Test will be played in Dubai from October 6.
