Cutting of trees for expansion of Quetta-Pashen road; SC adjourns hearing for indefinite period

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of the case regarding cutting of trees for expansion of Quetta-Pashen road for an indefinite period.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the suo moto notice case.

During the course of proceedings, Advocate General Balochistan Aman Ullah Kunrani and Member Provincial Assembly Balochistan Syed Liaquat appeared before the court and informed that some amendments were proposed in the design of the project and proposals were under consideration to acquire land for the project.

Syed Liaquat also submitted pictures of trees and said Vachellia nilotica and Morus trees were situated at the site and if they were cut they would again grow in two to three years.

The court directed the parties to propose a solution so that the project could not delay.
