ISLAMABAD: Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Engr Baligh-ur-Rehman Thursday informed the National Assembly that fire safety audit of the public sector buildings in Federal Capital had been ordered to ensure tackling of emergencies effectively.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said necessary directives had already been issued to Capital Development Authority in this regard and the fire safety audit would start soon.
Member National Assembly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Asad Umer gave four suggestions to avoid fire incidents and handle them in an efficient manner.
He asked for holding an inquiry into the Sasta Bazar and Awami center fire incidents and fixing responsibility, announcing compensation for the affected people and carrying out a fire safety audit of buildings and audit of firefighting departments’ equipments.
He said innocent people lost their lives due to non-availability of proper firefighting equipments in the Awami center.
