ISLAMABAD: Globally ‘Teachers Day’ will be celebrated on Thursday (Oct 5) across the world including Pakistan to commemorate services of teacher organisations worldwide.
According to a report aired by a private news channel, it is aimed at mobilising support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers.
World Teachers’ Day 2017 will be celebrated under the theme “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers”, echoing the 2015 theme that followed the adoption of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) in September 2015, when teacher empowerment was reaffirmed as a top priority in all education and development strategies.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually worldwide and brings together governments, multi- and bilateral organizations, NGOs, private sectors, teachers and experts in the field of teaching.
Various events would be arranged in many countries around the world on or around October 5.
These include celebrations to honour teachers in general or those who have made a special contribution to a particular community.
