Govt initiates fashion designing, beautician courses for eunuchs

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has initiated tailoring, fashion designing and beautician courses for eunuchs to enable them to start their own businesses and get jobs.

Both the courses have six months duration and the participants would also get Rs3,000 monthly remuneration. Twenty-five eunuchs have also been selected from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the programme who are getting training at Government Technical Vocational Centre Gulbahar, reported private news channel.

The eunuchs participating in the training programme have expressed happiness over their selection and said they always wanted to do beautician course, but could not do so because of high fee and other problems. They said it is a good platform for them to learn skills to get an honourable job.

Nomi said transgenders used to seek alms or participate in dancing programmes to earn livelihood. “This programme will enable us to get honourable jobs and earn livelihood for us with dignity,” Nomi.

Another eunuch, Sheetal, said: “We are very happy over getting training in beautician and tailoring courses. We appeal to the government to also arrange dignified employment for us. ”
