Govt trying best to provide maximum relief to power consumers: NA informed

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that despite issues of pilferage and circular debt, the government is trying its level best to provide maximum relief to power consumers.

Responding to a calling attention notice in the House, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad rejected the impression that the power tariff has been increased by 3.90 rupees.

Responding to another calling attention notice moved by Khalida Mansoor, Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani assured that the development work on the first phase of Bhara Kahu Housing project in the capital will be started soon.

On a point raised by Leader of the Opposition Khurshid Shah about the absence of ministers, the chair said the ministers should ensure their presence in the house, otherwise, strict action will be taken against them.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmed moved before the house a motion expressing deep gratitude to the President for his address to the joint sitting of the parliament.

Later, the house was adjourned to meet again at 10:30 on Thursday morning.
