ISLAMABAD: The IOC Olympic Solidarity seminar on ‘Sports Medicine and Protection of Clean Athletes’ organised by the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) started here on Saturday.
The seminar was inaugurated by POA president Lt Gen ® Syed Arif Hasan.
Over 150 male and female athletes, coaches, team managers, and general secretaries of the national sports federations attended the seminar.
The purpose of the seminar was to educate and raise awareness among athletes on the global challenges and trends in issues related to sports medicine and safe sports.
This particular seminar will educate athletes on hazards, such as doping and drug abuse, and aims to create a culture of clean sports.
In addition, it will impart a special focus on sports nutrition and sexual harassment in sports fraternities.
POA secretary Khalid Mehmood, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General Mansoor Ahmed, Director National Sports Federations Azam Dar, Dr Waqar Ahmed and officials of federations, coaches and athletes were also present on the occasion.
