ISLAMABAD: Former world number one and Advisor to President of Pakistan Squash Federation Jansher Khan said on Monday that the recently-held Independence Cup series against World XI in Lahore had proved that Pakistan was a safe country and capable of holding all sort of international sports activities.
“It is heartening to note that alongside foreign squash athletes, players of other disciplines including cricket, tennis, table tennis and badminton have also started to visit Pakistan,” he said in statement on Monday.
“The Independence Cup has portrayed a soft image of Pakistan. I believe now once again we will have a lot of international sports activities in the country,” he added.
He congratulated Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for holding the event in a successful manner.
Jansher also congratulated Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) and national Davis Cup team for winning the Asian Oceana Group-II tie against Thailand. “Our Davis Cup team’s performance has been superb. They deserve appreciation for making the nation proud,” he said.
