JCP proposes elevation of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah to SC, Justice Yawar Ali as LHC CJ

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) Thursday proposed elevation of Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as a Supreme Court judge.

The commission’s meeting chaired by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, also recommended Justice Yawar Ali Khan as the new Chief Justice of LHC.

The commission also proposed six names of district and sessions court judges Ishrat Ali Shah and Kausar Sultana Hussain, and four lawyers Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry, Amjid Ali Sahito, Agha Faisal and Shamsuddin Abbasi, for appointment as additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) for a year.

The proposals will be sent to the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment for consideration.
