Mayor directs to detach environment wing staff from MCI other formations

ISLAMABAD:Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz Tuesday directed the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to immediately detach the staff of its Environment Wing from other formations to further improve its performance, as the previous practice was affecting the department’s efficiency.

Presiding over the 33rd Session of MCI held here at Pak China Friendship Centre, the Mayor underlined the need to improve the Environment Department’s working saying it is an important wing of the corporation, a press release issued here said.

The meeting evaluated the performance of environment staff in detail and deliberated over parking fee and registration of wooden stalls. Moreover, the session unanimously approved the minutes of 32nd session of MCI.

During the meeting which was also attended by MCI members, the mayor said that staff of Environment Wing particularly OGMs were working in other formations undermining the working of Environment Wing thus they should be immediately detached from the other formations.

During the meeting it was also decided that Chairman of each Union Council (U.C) would monitor the performance of environment wing in his respective UC and asked them to submit their report on weekly basis.

The House also approved the restoration of wooden stalls in different sectors and the restoration of toll plazas for generating more revenue to spend it on provision of civic amenities. The house deferred the imposition of parking fee in Islamabad till next session and directed the committee to submit suggestions in next session of MCI.
