SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday welcomed the statement of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he said that love, not bullets will resolve Kashmir issue. The Indian PM stated that Kashmir’s resolution will become a reality if humanity and justice replaced bullet and abuse.
“Welcome @narendramodi also believes”Goli&gaali will not help resolve Kashmir issue”if insaniyat & insaaf replace them Resolution can become a Reality (sic),” Mirwaiz tweeted while reacting to Modi’s statement on Kashmir.
Modi had, in his Independence Day speech, on Tuesday said that “only love and not bullets or abuse can help resolve the dragging problem in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“We are committed for the development of Jammu and Kashmir and this is also the resolve of every Indian,” Modi said in his speech from the Red Fort in Delhi.
Modi said the issue cannot be resolved by “gaali se” (abuse) or “goli se” (bullet) but by embracing every Kashmiri.
“But I am clear in my belief on how to win the war against separatism, which is spread by a handful of people. The problem will be solved neither by abuse or bullets – it will be solved by embracing all Kashmiris. Such is the legacy of 125 crore Indians. Hence, neither by abuse nor by bullets, change will come by embracing all. And we are moving forward with this resolve,” he said.
