MOHR establishes Cell on Human Trafficking, online safety for women, children

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Human Rights (MOHR) has established a Cell on Human Trafficking and online safety for women and children.

Cell has been made to address the issue of human trafficking (women and children) in the light of ratified conventions/treaties on Human Rights through preventive and protective measures.

The Cell is working in the International Cooperation (IC) Wing under the supervision of Director General (IC), Mohammad Hassan Mangi.

The Cell comprised Deputy Director-IC-1(IC Section), Deputy Director, National Commission for Child Welfare and Development (NCCWD) and a Research Officer, an official of Ministry of Human Rights told reporter.

The Regional offices, Ministry of Human Rights shall extend support to implement the Terms of References (TORs).

The Cell will mainly deal with Trafficking of Women and Children sensitization and awareness, collection and compilation of data, measures for protection of women and children from trafficking, coordination with existing mechanisms for securing online safety of women and children; facilitate provision of psycho-social support to the victims reintegration of victims of trafficking and implementation of recommendations/observations of the various treaty bodies with regard to human trafficking are the main areas of interventions.

All these measures will be taken with the coordination of relevant federal and provincial departments, particularly, the Ministry of Interior (FIA) and provincial Home departments.
