Mushahid congratulates forest department on winning election of FCPF

ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan Wednesday congratulated Forest Department for being elected as a Bureau member of Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF).

As recognition of the resolve that Pakistan has shown in the recent years to preserve and promote forestry, Pakistan has been elected as Bureau Member of the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF). The election was made at the 10 annual meeting of the Participants Committee held at Luang Prabang Laos DPR.

The other bureau members that were elected by the participants committee include USA and Tanzania.

It’s worth mentioning here that the meeting was attended by 60 countries while FCPF, during the proceedings, has taken strategic decisions regarding funding awards to countries, and capacity issues related to climate change and forests.

According to details of the meeting that had been received through the official sources of Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC), the Pakistani delegates during the proceedings, lauded the role of SDPI’S group on REDD PLUS and LEAD Pakistan for raising critical awareness and research based knowledge generation on forestry in the context of Pakistan.
