ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Lahore High Court quashing the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case against the Sharif family.
The petition names former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other family members as respondents.
In its appeal, NAB prayed the apex court to set aside the Lahore High Court’s 2014 judgement “in the interest of justice, fair play and equity.”
NAB argued that the judge was not competent to set aside the findings of the high court, in which NAB had been allowed to re-initiate investigations against Sharif family members.
It said when the joint investigating team, formed to probe Panama papers case had collected further evidence relating to Hudaibiya Paper Mills and the NAB cannot be debarred/restrained from proceeding further with the investigation.
