ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has ridiculed the Supreme Court’s decision in the latter’s press conference.
“Nawaz Sharif has presented a charge-sheet against Supreme Court and ridiculed its decision despite his claims that he respects the law,” said Fawad Chaudhry while speaking to media persons.
“Authorities should take action against Nawaz Sharif for scandalizing the court. He should not be allowed to do politics on accountability,” the PTI leader demanded.
He said the former PM has arrived in the country to face cases but his children should also come back and the Sharif family should return the money that is in their bank accounts. He said the government has spent millions on the protocol and security of Nawaz Sharif for his ‘five-minute’ court appearance.
Fawad Chaudhry said Nawaz Sharif made fun of judicial order and it happens to be an unprecedented act.
The PTI spokesperson argued that the ex-PM wouldn’t have to ask Mujhe Kyu Nikala if money trail had been provided. He inquired why the ruling PML-N had declared war on the Supreme Court of Pakistan. “Nawaz Sharif s five and a half minute appearance in NAB court cost millions of rupees to the nation,” he claimed.
Fawad Ch told people with such luxury lives cannot bring revolution, adding that he came to accountability court with 45 vehicles and federal ministers. He repeated the allegations of money laundering and tax evasion on Nawaz Sharif and his children. “Face the cases like a man instead of acting like widows,” he told ex-PM.
“Nawaz Sharif came back home to save his politics … he was given an opportunity to provide money trail but he wasted it. Courts should not come under his pressure. He raised allegations on the top court.”
The PTI spokesperson asked why the JIT members would conspire against the former premier, adding that there is no comparison between cases of disqualification of Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan.
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif addressed a much-awaited press conference, two days after returning from London where he had been attending to his ailing spouse.
Sharif reiterated that he will not accept the apex court’s July 28 decision to disqualify him for life.
The press conference followed his appearance in accountability court in connection with references against him and his family as part of Panama Papers case.
Issuing bailable arrest warrants for Nawaz Sharif’s children, the court has ordered the Sharif family to appear before it on Oct 2 – the day when they will be formally indicted.
