ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Monday said the Central General Council of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would re-elect Mohammad Nawaz Sharif as its president unopposed.
“Tomorrow the PML-N’s General Council is scheduled to meet again and Nawaz Sharif will be re-elected the party president unopposed,” he said while talking to media persons outside the Punjab House here after a Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the PML-N.
He said the CEC had passed a resolution in which it reposed full confidence in the leadership of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The resolution, moved by Senator Mushahidullah, appreciated the four year performance of Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister of the country.
Farooq said the meeting also approved an amendment in the party constitution which abolished the condition that any disqualified person from the court could not hold any party office.
Answering a question, the AJK PM said the PML-N had been facing court cases and it always came clean, adding that children of Nawaz Sharif were looking after their ailing mother in UK and they were law abiding citizens of the society.
He said PML-N believed in supremacy of the Parliament and rule of law and it would again succeed in the public court – the General Election 2018.
Replying to another question, Farooq Haider said media should have complete freedom to cover and report cases being heard in Accountability courts.
