PR is not considering any proposal to change routes of trains

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Railways is not considering any proposal to change the routes of trains of Pakistan Railways.

As for as changing the route of existing passengers trains is concerned, there is no change except extension of Jaffar Express train up to Peshawar from April instead of terminating at Rawalpindi, an official told reporter.

He said the train will run between Quetta-Rawalpindi-Peshawar.

The Karakoram Express runs between Lahore and Karachi via Faisalabad while Millat Express runs between Karachi and Malakwal via Faisalabad-Sargodha, he added.

There is no proposal under consideration to operate Karakoram Express and Millat Express through Rawalpindi route instead of Faisalabad route.

However, the official said that extension of Millat Express from Malakwal to Lalamusa is being examined.

To a question, he said that at present, there are 70,730 numbers of employees working on permanent basis and 1,714 number of employees working on contract basis in Pakistan Railways.

He also informed that there is no proposal under consideration at present to regularize the services of said contractual employees.

The contract employees are entitled for same allowances as being paid to regular employees.
