ISLAMABAD:President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (M) on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber at a special investiture ceremony here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
He decorated the new Air Chief with the prestigious award in recognition of his services for the country.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa and senior officials of the government and armed forces.
Born on April 16,1965, Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in April 1986. During his dazzling career, he commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Flying Wing, an Operational Air Base and Regional Air Command.
In his staff appointments, he has served as Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operations Research & Development), Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Training-Officers) and Additional Secretary at Ministry of Defence.
He also served as Director General Projects, Director General Air Force Strategic Command,Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Air Defence) and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Administration) at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
He is a graduate of Combat Commanders’ School, Air War College and Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), UK. .
Earlier, in recognition of his outstanding services, he had been awarded with Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military).
