ISLAMABAD: A meeting of all the stakeholders was held on Monday in the Committee Room of Pakistan Sports Board, Islamabad to discuss and finalize the arrangements for holding the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2017.
Dr. Mohammad Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board presided-over the meeting.
The Director Sports, Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, FATA, Islamabad Sports Boards and all Deputy Director General of Pakistan Sports Board attended the meeting.
The Director General, PSB in his opening address informed the participants that basic objective of the project to create environment conducive for promoting national harmony by engaging the youth in healthier activities like sports and providing opportunities of festivity, entertainment and pleasure. Other objectives of the project are to explore new talent in sports for grooming for national teams. He added that we are required to revive interest in sports among the general public and create sports culture in the country and to promote national health and raise national fitness level.
The Minister for IPC, Mian Riaz Husain Pirzada, President, Pakistan Sports Board will request the Prime Minister to inaugurate the Games whereas President of Pakistan will be requested to attend the closing ceremony as Chief Guest.
The House after the threadbare discussions decided that the Games will be organized from 7-11 December, 2017 at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. It was also decided that 13-games (Men & Women) namely Athletics (Men & Women), Badminton (Men & Women), Hockey (Men & Women), Judo (Men & Women), Karate (Men & Women), Netball (Men & Women), Squash (Men & Women), Table Tennis (Men & Women), Taekwondo (Men), Weightlifting (Men), Tennis (Men & Women), Volleyball (Men & Women) and Wrestling (Men) will be organized in these Games.
All the participating Boards have been requested to organize the training camps for effective preparation and participation in the Games. They are advised to finalize requirement of their Contingent and the same must be submitted to Pakistan Sports Board before 25th October, 2017. The winners will be awarded cash prizes.
The House unanimously decided that the age limit of the participating players will be under-25 year upto 31st December, 2017. No departmental players shall be eligible to participate in this event. The House also discussed and finalized the entitlement of the participating teams, technical officials and volunteers. DG, PSB categorically told all the stakeholders that Games will be organized under the ages of National Sports Federations. The Federations will be responsible for the technical conduct of the Games.
