PTDC for collective efforts to promote tourism

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation (PTDC) on Friday called for making making collective effors for promotion of tourism in the in the country.

Manager, Publicity and Promotion Department, Mukhtar Ali in a interview with PTV called for promotion of culture Tourism with continued collective efforts of the world nations.

Mukhtar said there is needed to enhance sustainability in the tourism sector by encouraging international cooperation and support to upgrade its structure.

He said providing low rates shopping items to facilitate foreign and local tourists can be greatly helpful to bring positive changes in its infrastructure.

He lauded great enthusiasm which was observed during Pakistan and Qatar’s gathering at Doha on the occasion of World Tourism day celebrations held on September 27,2017 (Wednesday).

He said similarly a seminar to highlight tourism significance was also held in Pakistan in which the speakers had highlighted the tourism day as a great sustainability day added that a Photo Exhibition was also arranged on the occasion.

Replying to a question , he said nearly 12 to 17 lakhs tourists had visited northern areas, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhaw (KP) in 2015 for tourism, leisure , archaeological sights and cultural exchange purposes.

He said there is a complete consensus and cooperation between the centre and provinces with regard to promotion of the tourism industry added that different awareness programs have also been launched in all parts of the country to create awareness through tourists guides who are available at almost all the tourist destinations to facilitate the tourists .

Replying to another question , he said there is visible economic and

cultural progress in the tourism sector and it could be possible due to peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the country .

While highlighting its economic significance , he said tourism Industry is the No 1 industry in Pakistan which is contributing enormously to increase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate.
