ISLAMABAD: Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Abdul Ghafoor has said various projects were in pipeline which would be completed this year with an aim to promote tourism in the country.
He said religious tourism was on top priority which would attract a large number of tourists from across the country as the flow of tourists had incredibly increased as compared to previous years.
The MD PTDC said ,”I categorized tourism into different sectors and religious tourism to be on top: there were numerous sacred religious places in the country which would be advertised properly and provided with high quality facilities which will attract a larger number of tourists.
This will increase foreign exchange earnings of the country and contribute to the national economy. he added. The MD stressed that there was peace in the country and the Pakistani people were ready to welcome tourists.
He said there were several projects in pipeline for the development of tourism in the country, including Bus Terminal in the Nankana Sahib, the establishment of motels in the Hawks Bay Karachi, Moenjodaro, Baran Kalay (KP) and tourist facilitation centres in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Quetta and Peshawar.
