Restrictions continue in Srinagar to prevent Muharram processions

ISLAMABAD: The puppet authorities in Indian occupied Kashmir, continue to impose strict restrictions in held Srinagar on the second consecutive day, Saturday, to prevent people from taking out Muharram processions.

According to kahsmir Media Service, the authorities have deployed Indian troops, police and paramilitary personnel in full riot gear across the city to stop the Muharram processions.

Pedestrian movement has been suspended while the forces’ personnel have placed coils of razor-fitted wire on the main roads to prevent movement of traffic.

Officials told media men that the restrictions will remain in force until Sunday, the Ashura (10th of Muharram).

It is to mention here that main Muharram processions are banned in the occupied territory since 1990 and only small mourning rallies are allowed in selected areas.
