ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman on Wednesday said that rich potential was available to attract foreign tourist in this part of the region.
“A large number of domestic tourist was coming to Gilgit-Baltistan due to efforts made by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), government after coming into power, “ he said while talking to PTV.
The present government was working on improving infrastructure including roads, hotels and other facilities, he said.
“We are constructing about 100 hotels every year to facilitate the tourists visiting to this area every year, “ he said.
A huge amount was being spent on construction of various roads leading and connecting Gilgit-Baltistan, he said.
There was a need to attract foreign tourists and for this, suggestions have been given to authorities concerned to promote tourism in this area, he said.
To a question regarding law and order, the CM said that advance technology cameras monitoring the entry and exit points of Gilgit-Baltistan had been installed to ensure peace.
He, however said that no untoward incident was reported in the GB for the last three years.
Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman said that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure peace during the Muharram ul Harram.
