ISLAMABAD: Satpara Lake, Skardu is attracting a large number of domestic tourists from across the country due its charm and scenic beauty.
The Lake is situated approximately 8500 feet above the sea level. There are raging mountains surrounding the lake that are covered with ice especially in winter.
An official of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) told reporter that the lake is fed by Satpara stream and the whole Lake provides water to Skardu regions and its residents.
He said that a jeep can be hired from Skardu or the tourists also can enjoy the trek on foot.
He said that it is the most charming lakes and attracts number of tourist every year.
He said that there is picturesque island in the center of lake.
The PTDC officials said Sadpara Lake is an attractive place for tourists and the PTDC has at least nine other motels located all over Gilgit-Baltistan.
“Tourism not only earns foreign exchange for the country, it also provides direct and indirect income to the local people,” the official said.
The 12-room motel, situated at Satpara Lake, is attracting more tourists this year as compared to previous years as it was the best choice of foreign and local tourists due to its scenic beauty.
The natural lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the country and offers ample attractions to visitors.
Hour-long drive by jeep from the motel takes tourists to the second largest plateau of the world, the Deosai Plains located at an altitude of 16,000 feet, he said.
They said the water of this lake shines in the daytime.
Satpara Lake serves as a centre of various activities such as row borating, and trout fishing.
It takes about twenty minutes to reach there from Skardu. Deosai Plain is also located near this lake which is known to be the second largest plateau of this world.
Motels and rest houses are easily available for tourists visiting Satpara Lake.
