ISLAMABAD: The Department of Public Administration of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Wednesday conducted a seminar to create awareness among students about the physical and psychological effect of using drugs.
The seminar was arranged under the theme of “Say No to Drugs” and attended by a large number of students.
Jibran Yousaf Zai(Assistant Director Anti-Narcotics Force, North Region) was chief guest on the occasion who enlightened the students about different types of drugs including Narcotics, Stimulants, Depressants, Cannabis, Inhalants and Steroids and its physical and psychological effects.
He also aware the students about the symptoms of Drug addict and advise them to help the drug addict patient.
It was highlighted that there are almost nine million drug addicts in Pakistan. Seminar illuminated the legislations regarding Narcotics in Pakistan (The Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997. Anti-Narcotics Force Act, 1997) as well as the status of intoxicants.
Being a Muslim Country what is the status of drug in Islam. Islam prohibits use of any intoxicants and it is widely agreed fact that drugs are haram in Islam.
The Departments also organized a walk for the said theme where a large number of students and faculty and staff members participated in this walk.
