ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Rules and Procedure Thursday showed displeasure over Sindh Administration for not giving due protocol to the acting President during his visit to Karachi.
The committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini here.
The committee members informed the chairman that it was a breach of privilege for the Chairman Senate because nobody from the administration of Karachi was available at the airport on Septemeber 17 to receive him as per protocol.
Senator Farhat Ullah Babar said though Pakistan Peoples Party was the sitting government in Sindh but still the acting President was not provided the protocol.
The committee members said normally the information was conveyed to all related departments but in this case, the protocol was ignored.
The committee was informed by the Additional Inspector General Police that IG office did not receive any information about this visit.
He said due to lack of information, the IG and others high-ups were unable to recive the acting President at the airport.
The committee said its a serious issue beacuse Sindh administration was unaware about this visit.
Committee Chairman Senator Dr.Jehanzeb Jamaldini said the committee would probe all the matters related to this issue.
The committee members recomended the chairman to call Chief Secretary, Sindh, I.G Sindh, Commissioner Karachi and Deputy Commissioner Airport area, Karachi in the next meeting.
