ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Wednesday refused to listen to Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) due to absence of Federation’s president and secretary from the meeting.
The Senate Standing Committee on IPC was held here at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Saud Majeed.
The Committee Chairman did not hear the briefing on the working of PHF by federation’s Director Development and Domestic Naveed Alam on behalf of federation’s president and secretary. The Chairman summoned PHF’s president and secretary in the next meeting.
Regarding calling attention notice moved by Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq on discrimination against O and A Level students in the allocation of marks in equivalence certificates issued to them by the Inter-Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC), the Chairman summoned IBCC Chairman in the next committee meeting.
The Committee Chairman said IBCC Chairman must come with a proper suggestion in the next meeting of how the issue can be resolved once and for all.
A briefing was also given to the Committee on working and performance of Pakistan Girls Guides Association (PGGA) and Pakistan Boys Scouts Association (PBSA).
The briefing on PGGA was given by National Secretary Mrs. Tahira Ahmed while National Commissioner Senator Nuzhat Sadiq was also present on the occasion who requested the committee to affiliate PGGA with education same as in the provinces. The Chairman asked State Minster of IPC Dr Darshan Punchi to personally look into the matter.
The briefing on PBSA was given by its Director Training and Programme Zahid Mahboob who briefed the committee that they are working on a plan with anti narcotics force for the elimination of drugs from educational institutes.
The Chairman recommended that PBSA should be headed by a male just like PGGA is run by a female. The chairman also directed PBSA to hold its elections as early as possible. Currently Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani is Chief Commissioner, PBSA.
Senator Shahi Syed, Senator Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamrah, Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Mohammad Shahi, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera and other officials were also present on the occasion.
