ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday showed displeasure over the performance of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and asked officials to complete projects of public interest as soon as possible.
The Committee meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Mohammad Talha Mahmud at Parliament House Islamabad.
The committee members said Capital Development Authority CDA should provide basic needs of people at door step which was its legal duty.
The committee member Kalsoom Parveen said resident of D-12 sector were facing shortage of water and urged CDA to come forward for resolving the issues of the people Islamabad.
The committee was informed by the CDA officials that 105 housing societies were located in the federal capital.
The committee members said it was a tragedy that people were looted in federal capital by illegal societies and nobody was ready to took action against those people who were behind the illegal societies.
Senator Mohsin Aziz said CDA was not able to performe its duty for the interest of people and illegal societies were provided gas and electricity connections which showed that powerful people were running the illegal societies.
The CDA official told the committee that different actions were taken under the land of law against those elements involved in illegal societies and they were facing the law of land.
The committee chairman Senator Talha Mohammad also directed the CDA officials to ensure completion of the road from GT road to D-12 sector as soon as possible.
The committee members also showed great concern over the issue of parking area of both sides of buildings, plazas of Bule Area Islamabad causing great difficulties to traders, businessmen, employees of different government and private offices and other people.
CDA officials assured the committee that the issue of parking area of Blue Area would be resolved within days and report would be presented before the committee.
