Shabbir Shah faces threat to life in Delhi’s Tihar Jail

ISLAMABAD:Illegally detained senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has said that he is facing threat to his life in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.

According to reporter, Shabbir Ahmed Shah has moved an application to a Delhi court seeking its directions to the Tihar Jail authorities to shift him to the high-risk ward. In the application moved before Additional Sessions Judge, Sidharth Sharma, he also said that the jail authorities were not providing him proper medical facilities.

The application moved through advocate M S Khan said, “There is serious threat to his (Shah’s) life and few incidents have happened with him in jail as well as in the judicial lock-up.”

“Direct the jail authorities to shift him (Shah) to high risk ward in order to ensure his safety and security,” the application said.

The court sought a response from the jail authorities on the application by October 13.

The court had earlier allowed Shabbir Shah’s plea seeking his production before it through video conference. He was denied bail by the court on August 22 in a false case registered against him in 2005.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah was arrested by India’s Enforcement Directorate from Srinagar on July 25, 2017 and was airlifted to New Delhi. Later, he was sent to Tihar Jail on judicial remand.
