ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee on Science and Technology discussed the “The National University of Technology Bill, 2017” in detail, and proposed amendments in the Bill.
The Committee therefore, unanimously recommended that the said Bill as amended by the Committee may be passed. The Standing Committee on Science and Technology met today in Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Ch. Tariq Bashir Cheema, MNA.
The Committee considered “The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (Amendment) Bill 2017” (moved by Mr. Mohammad Muzammil Qureshi, MNA) and deferred it till next meeting for further discussion.
The Committee also considered the report of the Sub-Committee constituted under the Convenership of Mr. Aftab Shahban Mirani, MNA to finalize amendments on “The Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies Bill, 2016”.
The Committee appreciated the efforts of the Sub-Committee for finalizing report on the subject Bill in short span of time. The Committee directed that Secretary M/o Science and Technology may hold a meeting with all stakeholders to built a consensus on the amended draft of the Bill to remove lacunas, if any so that Committee could considered them accordingly. The Committee therefore, deferred the report on the Bill till its next meeting.
The meeting was attended by the following Members; Ch. Mohammad Ashraf, Ms. Shazia Mubassar, Ms. Musarat Rafique Mahesar, Mr. Aftab Shahban Mirani, Ms. Shamas-un-Nisa, Mr. Sajid Ahmad, Ms. Aliya Kamran and Engineer Usman Khan Tarakai.
