ISLAMABAD: Tourists have demanded the authorities concerned to clean the beautiful Swat and Naran Kaghan Vallies by removing the garbage heaps near the lakes, causing environmental pollution besides harming the beaty of the area.
A tourist Moheer Khan said,”I visited Naran a few days back the found foul smell from the garbage heaps there causing negative environmental effects besides posing risks of diseases”.
He requested the authorities concerned to launch cleanliness drive there as soon as possible and remove the heaps of garbage there.
Another tourists Rizwan Ahmed said,”People throw different waste items into lakes or garbage heaps at different lake points giving a dirty look to the the beauty of Swat valley.
Talking to reporter, Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor PTDC said,”Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) would soon launch cleanliness awareness campaign in Swat and Naran areas to educate tourists as well as the residents to keep the beautiful vallies clean and free from pollution.
Work on cleanliness environment would soon initiate a campaign to ensure cleanliness at picnic points in Swat and Naran vallies by launching its activities in the area.
In the campaign the volunteers would collect wrappers, shopping bags, beverage bottles, disposable crockery and other waste items, which were a big cause of pollution around the beautiful vallies.
He said PTDC would placed sign boards at different points in order to make visitors ensure about the cleanliness instructions.
If any visitors violate the instruction, he or she would pay heavy fines on breaking the instructions aiming at to keep city clean he added.
