Two new Climate Change bodies to be constituted

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Climate Change will constitute two new bodies Climate Change Council and Climate Change Authority under Pakistan Climate Change Act, 2017.

Secretary Ministry of Climate Change Khizer Hayat Khan informed Senate Climate Change Caucus in recent meeting held here at Parliament House.

Climate Change Council would be constituted as the apex decision making body under the Pakistan Climate Change Act, 2017.

Both the Council and Authority will coordinate, monitor and supervise implementation of the National Climate Change Policy and the sustainable Development Goals.

To make Climate Change Authority functional, the ministry demanded 282 posts whereas Management Services Wing agreed to 124 posts.“

Case for creation of 124 posts has been submitted to Ministry of Finance.
