CDWP gives go-ahead to two Rs 21.164 bn projects

ISLAMABAD:The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved one project worth Rs 634 million and recommended another project worth Rs 20.53 billion to Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further consideration.

The CDWP meeting presided over by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan and was attended by Secretary Planning Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh and senior officials from Planning Commission.

The meeting approved a project related to health titled “Social Health Protection Phase-II” worth Rs 634 million.

The project envisages social health protection for the district of Gilgit Baltistan including medicines, general surgery, orthopedics, gynae and obstetrics, pediatric, ophthalmology and ENT with coverage up to Rs 25000 per member of the beneficiary household per year.

A project related to Water Resources presented in the meeting namely “Rainee Canal Project (Phase-I)” worth Rs 20.534 billion referred to ECNEC for further consideration.

The project envisages construction of 174 km long canal having 609 km long distribution system to irrigate a total cultural able command Area of 412,400 Acres in the districts of Kashmore, Ghotki, Sukkur and Khairpur.

The CDWP directed ministry of water resources to hand over the project to government of Sindh along with agreed operation and maintenance cost. The GoS was directed to ensure command area development.

The CDWP cleared three concept clearance proposals namely “Provision of Equipment & Personnel Training Provision to Airport Security Forces and Pakistan Civil Aviation Industry Corporation of China International China” worth Rs 3272.509 million , second Concept Clearance namely ” Rehabilitation / Up gradation of Rawal Lake Treatment Plan, Old Transmission Pipe and Water Testing Laboratory including Equipment” worth Rs 3921.47 million and the third Concept Clearance namely ” National Deployment and Vaccination Plan for COVID-19 Vaccine 2021 Pakistan Preparedness and Response Plan for COVID -19″ US$ 1028.74 approved by CDWP.

Deputy Chairman Planning Commission directed for ensuring all necessary arrangements for timely purchase and vaccination program including arrangements and training of workforce to address COVID-19 pandemic as per international standards.
