ISLAMABAD: Former Speaker National Assembly, Dr Fahmida Mirza has demanded that hurriedness should not be showed in holding Local Government (LG) so that masses can prepare themselves.
“Otherwise the system can be endangered,” she warned.
Talking on point of order on floor of lower house here on Friday, she added that haste in holding LG polls would bring negative results because delimitations have not been done yet, adding that provincial governments should not be pressurized in this regard, she added.
Dr Fahmida Mirza mentioned that LG election is a sensitive democratic process and it puts long term impacts on local politics.
She demanded that Local Bodies polls should be held at that time when masses and provincial government would completely be ready for it.
