Karach to have 10,000 CCTV cameras to curtail crime against women

KARACHI:Karachi may soon have 10,000 close circuit television cameras installed at different sites along with some already functional under the domain of KMC and city police respectively, said Sindh Chief Secretary, Rizwan Memon here Tuesday.

In a briefing to the standing committee of Pakistan Senate on Human Rights about measures adopted to contain instances of scalpel assault on women in certain parts of Karachi, he said the newly installed CCTV cameras will be managed by Pakistan Rangers-Sindh and other intelligence cum law enforcing agencies. Senators Nasreen Jalil, Farhat ullah Babar and Nisar Mohammad along with provincial home secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez, Additional IGP – Sindh, Mushtaq Mahar, DIG – Karachi, Sultan Khawja, IG – Prisons, Nusrat Mangan and other officials were also present on the occasion.


Eight held for travelling on fake documents

SIALKOT: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested eight accused from Sialkot International Airport who were trying to travel abroad on fake visa and traveling documents.

According to FIA Divisional Deputy Director Khalid Anees, accused passengers Usman, Nadeem, Idrees, Zeeshan Khalid, Asrar Aziz, Muazzam Maqsud, Irfan Anwar and Shahzaib Tariq were carrying fake visa documents.

He said that accused were trying to travel to Azerbaijan, Ukraine via Dubai from Sialkot International Airport by an international airline.

Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation was underway.
