KARACHI: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has started its proper election campaign from Sunday.
This was revealed by the MMA Karachi President Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman in a crowded press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq, says press release here.
The other MMA leaders were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the press conference, the Hafiz Naeem has disclosed the entire schedule of election campaign.
Apprising the details, Hafiz Naeem said that the Naib President MMA Siraj-ul-Haq would arrive in Karachi today (Sunday) adding that he would visit to seven places in the city and meet with the area people in connection of general elections-2018.
He further disclosed that the MMA would hold a grand public gathering on 15-July at University Road near Hasan Square, adding that the MMA would emerge as an alternative force after the general elections-2018 for the masses.
During the press conference, the MMA leader Hafiz Naeem said that the Election Commission’s Code of Conduct is being violated and some of the political parties through hefty amount are running their election campaigns on televisions by airing their “paid contents”.
He emphasized that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should take notice of those campaigns.
He further said that the ECP is not allow the other political parties to run their election campaigns in city which would leads the way of non-transparent elections.
Hafiz Naeem said that the federal and provincial governments including MQM are responsible for water shortage in the metropolis, adding that the K-4 Greater Water Project is not yet completed in the year 2018 and its construction cost has been accelerated up to Rs50billion.
“The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was always raises its voice against the civic issues of the masses including water shortage, power outage and non-issuance of CNIC by NADRA”, Hafiz Naeem added.
During the press conference, Hafiz Naeem further asked the PTI Chairman Imran Khan to clear his party stance over “Namoos-e-Risalat” Law, adding that he (Imran Khan) should also take notice of the statement of Shafqat Mehmood—a PTI leader over the said issue.
He said that the MMA in upcoming elections would emerge as an alternate force for the masses and grab reasonable seats from Karachi.
