KARACHI/QUETTA/LAHORE: Cellular service has been suspended in different cities including Karachi, Bahawalnagar, Quetta, Lahore and Faisalabad as part of security arrangements for the Moharramul Haram.
According to details, the mobile phone service began being closed in sensitive areas of Karachi including Numaish, Kharadar, Ancholi, and Gulistan-e-Jauhar since morning.
According to the home department of Sindh government, cellular service has been closed in view of security concerns ahead of mourning processions of 8th Moharram.
Service has been suspended over the recommendation of Sindh government.
According to the notification, mobile phone service has been suspended in at least eight cities of Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad from 8th to 10th of Moharram.
Other cities where mobile phones have been silenced include Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Quetta, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
