KARACHI: A tree plantation campaign commenced at the Karachi University campus on Monday.
An official of the institution said that the drive has been dedicated to a senior professor of the University Department of
International Relations, Dr. Mutahir Ahmed Shaikh, who had passed away recently.
As many as 6,000 saplings and plants will be planted during the campaign.
Inaugurating the drive Dr. Mohammad Moiz Khan said that
trees play an important role in preventing natural calamities tropical cyclones, tornadoes, floods and droughts as well as global warming.
Some 6,000 trees and plants of four different kinds will be planted from Karachi University’s Maskan gate to the Pharmacy Department during this plantation drive.
The students of KU and IBA are participating for this joint initiative, it was further informed.
