KARACHI:The Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday turning down punishment orders of a lower court issued directives to release two accused charged with extortion in Surjani Town and Shahra-e-Noor Jahan areas.
A division bench comprising Justice Naimatullah Phulapoto and Justice Khadim Hussain Tunio heard appeals filed by accused Mohammed Arslan and Musawar Aalm
They informed the court through their counsel that they were arrested on charges of extorting Rs50,000 from traders in the areas of Surjani Town and Shahra-e-Noor Jahan and were awarded 10-10 years in jail and fine to this effect whereas the lower court did not completely follow legal formalities. They appealed that the decision of the lower court be quashed.
It is pertinent to mention here that the lower court had indicted both the accused and had awarded them 10-10 years in jail in 2015.
