SHC seeks reply from Sindh govt. on appointment of SMIU VC

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Friday sought reply from Sindh government by November 15 on a petition challenging the appointment of Sindh Madressatual Islam University (SMIU) Vice Chancellor Mohammad Ali Shaikh.

A division bench comprising Justice Saddiq Hussain Bhatti and Justice Adnanul Karim Memon heard a petition, filed by Iftikhar Mohammad Azam and others, challenging the appointment of SMIU VC Mohammad Ali Shaikh.

The petitioner informed the court that the appointment of the VC is illegal and in 2016 his tenure was further extended for four years.

He said that the matter of appointment was neither sent to the search committee nor a summary was sent in this regard.
