Sindh Home Minister chairs meeting for sectarian harmony during Muharram

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal on Wednesday presided a meeting for fostering sectarian harmony during Muharram.

On the occasion, he also directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh A.D. Khawaja, that extra-ordinary security be ensured during Muharram and in this regard Ulema and Zakirs from all schools of thought as well as notables should also be taken into confidence.

The IGP said that keeping in view the past experience, a strategy be chalked out to ensure foolproof security for mourning processions, Majalis and Tazia for the maintenance of peace and law and order.

He stated that steps be also taken for fostering the inter-faith and sectarian harmony. The services of the Ulema and notables should also be utilized for the purpose.

Commissioners, senior police officials and representatives of the religious parties were also present in the meeting.
