KARACHI: Six ships namely, MSC Lucy, Maersk Sentosa, Asphalt Express, DM Emerald, Gas Arma and Al-Aamriya scheduled to load/offload Containers, Bitumen, Chemicals, Petroleum gas and Natural gas were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Sui Southern Gas Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
Meanwhile three more ships, Sloman Hebe, Amor and Hawassa carrying Palm oil and Chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
Twelve ships were engaged at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Talcum Powder, Bitumen, Coal, Wheat, Chemicals, Petroleum gas, Natural gas, Gas oil and Palm oil respectively, out of them, two ships, container vessel ‘Lias’ and edible carrier ‘As Orelia’ sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, and three more ships, IVS North Berwick, Bunun Noble and Damas are expected to sail from PIBT, MW-2, and FOTCO on same day (today) in the afternoon.
Cargo volume of 163, 296 tonnes, comprising 109, 299 tonnes imports cargo and 53, 997 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3, 287 Containers (864 TEUs imports and 2, 423 TEUs export ), was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
A total of fourteen ships are currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths, out of them three ships, African Cheetah, Bao Run and Eva Usuki scheduled to load/offload 44, 000 tonnes Cement, 59, 466 tonnes Coal and 15, 759 tonnes Pam oil are expected take berths at MW-2, PIBT and LCT respectively on Wednesday, while a container vessel ‘E.R Tianshan’ is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and two more ships, Cape Male and CMA CGM Ivanhoe with containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
